At 7:00 AM on your park day, Lightning Lane Multi Pass opens. You have three initial picks at one park, with at most one Tier 1 ride among them. The Tier 1 you choose matters more than any other decision you’ll make before rope drop.

Some Tier 1s sell out within 15 minutes. Others have availability through mid-afternoon. Picking the wrong one first means spending the next hour watching return windows disappear while you’re still in the parking lot. How the 7 AM picks work

Your three initial picks should work together. The Tier 1 pick determines your anchor for the morning. The two Tier 2 picks fill the gaps around it. The goal is three return windows stacked in the first two to three hours of the park day, so you can tap through them quickly and start the open-ended booking cycle.

Magic Kingdom

Tier 1 pick: TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON Lightcycle / Run is the right first pick at Magic Kingdom. Between TRON and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, TRON moves faster — its return windows go first and its standby line builds to 90 to 120 minutes or more by mid-morning. Securing a TRON return window before it sells out sets up your whole morning.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is equally fast-selling and an excellent pick for families who prioritize it. If your group has young children who are more excited about Seven Dwarfs, pick that one instead. Both sell out within the first 30 minutes on busy days, so the specific call is about your group’s priorities, not a meaningful strategic difference.

Space Mountain is also Tier 1 but sells more slowly than TRON or Seven Dwarfs. Its return windows typically remain available well past the first hour of booking. Pick Space Mountain as a later addition after your first tap-in unlocks the next round of selections.

Tier 2 picks: Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain

Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain are the two Tier 2 rides with the heaviest standby waits mid-morning. Both lines build fast from rope drop and routinely hit 45 to 60 minutes by 10 AM.

Fill your two Tier 2 slots with both. Aim for return windows in the first two hours so you can cycle through all three picks before late morning and get into the open booking rhythm.

EPCOT

Tier 1 pick: Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is the fastest-selling Lightning Lane at any Disney World park. Return windows are gone in 15 to 20 minutes on busy days, and the ride has no single-ride standby option (it runs a virtual queue on many days). If you are visiting EPCOT, book Guardians first.

Frozen Ever After is the second fastest-selling Tier 1 at EPCOT and worth prioritizing if your group has young children or if Guardians doesn’t fit. On peak season days, Frozen windows can be gone within the first hour of booking.

Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Test Track are both Tier 1. Remy’s standby line builds quickly and the attraction is small-capacity, so it is worth booking early. Test Track typically retains availability longer than Guardians or Frozen.

Tier 2 picks: Spaceship Earth and Living with the Land

Neither Spaceship Earth nor Living with the Land has the capacity pressure of the Tier 1 rides, but both carry real wait times mid-morning. Book these as your two Tier 2 picks to keep return windows early and the cycle moving.

Hollywood Studios

Tier 1 pick: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (adults) or Slinky Dog Dash (families)

Hollywood Studios is the one park where the right first pick genuinely depends on who you’re with.

Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is the most in-demand attraction at Hollywood Studios. Return windows frequently sell out within the first hour of 7 AM booking, and the experience itself cannot be replicated elsewhere. For any adult group or family with older children, book Rise of the Resistance first.

Slinky Dog Dash is the right first pick for groups with young children. The standby line builds from rope drop and stays long all morning. A Slinky Dog Dash Lightning Lane return window in the first hour of the day means your youngest riders experience it without a 60-plus-minute wait. Rise of the Resistance can follow after your first tap-in unlocks the next Tier 1 pick.

Tower of Terror and Mickey’s Runaway Railway are both Tier 1 but have more consistent availability throughout the day. Neither needs to be your 7 AM priority pick.

Tier 2 picks: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and Star Tours

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is the strongest Tier 2 pick at Hollywood Studios — it has consistent demand and lines that build through the morning. Star Tours is a good second pick for its capacity and flexibility in stacking with nearby return windows.

Animal Kingdom

First pick: Avatar Flight of Passage

Animal Kingdom does not use the tier system, which simplifies the decision. Book Avatar Flight of Passage first, without hesitation. It consistently has the longest standby wait of any attraction in all of Walt Disney World, with lines running 120 to 180 minutes or more on busy days. No other attraction at Animal Kingdom comes close.

Na’vi River Journey is the second most popular pick at Animal Kingdom. It sits in Pandora alongside Flight of Passage and draws long lines from guests who want to complete the Pandora experience. Book it second.

Kilimanjaro Safaris is the third pick for most groups. The ride covers real ground and runs efficiently, but the wait time is more manageable than Pandora’s two rides. An early-morning safari also gives you the best animal activity — animals are most visible in the cooler morning hours.

If TRON, Guardians, or Rise of the Resistance is already sold out when you open the app at 7 AM, book the next fastest-selling Tier 1 at that park. For Magic Kingdom, move to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. For EPCOT, move to Frozen Ever After. For Hollywood Studios, move to Slinky Dog Dash (or Rise of the Resistance if you were trying for Slinky Dog first). Check for return windows opening throughout the day — cancellations do create openings.

Should I pick different rides on slower days?

The priority order stays the same on slower days, but the urgency drops. On a low-crowd day, TRON or Guardians may have available return windows well past 7 AM. You still want to book them early to keep your morning schedule flexible, but you have more room to deliberate. Watch return window times as you book — a 9 AM window versus a 1 PM window tells you a lot about how quickly a ride is filling.

Do resort guests get to book Lightning Lane before 7 AM?

No. Lightning Lane Multi Pass opens at 7:00 AM Eastern for all guests regardless of where they’re staying. There is no early booking advantage for resort guests.

What if I'm visiting multiple parks in one day?

Your initial three picks must all be at your first park. After your first tap-in, you can book rides at any park you plan to visit.
